Stanley Enhances the Pro with FatMax® Over-Stike Framing Hammer

Over-Strike Steel Protection Plate Helps Reduce Handle Wear and Tear

SUMMARY: Stanley combines a steel over-strike protection plate with the beauty and ergonomic benefits of a high-end hickory wood handle with the introduction of the Stanley® FatMax™ Over-Strike Framing Hammer. The steel forged head is designed with a larger striking surface, better overall balance and is heat-treated for greater durability. The head also has a rim-tempered chamfered edge to help reduce chipping and is assembled with a newly designed secure, double wedge head-to-handle assembly.

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 21, 2003 - Stanley (NYSE: SWK) addresses the needs of the serious professional framer with the launch of the Stanley® FatMax™ Over-Strike Framing Hammer. This new hammer is one of the most durable hammers in the industry with its over-strike steel protection plate protecting the shaft from normal wear and tear while reducing handle breakage. The steel plate is inserted 8 mm up into the head of the hammer securing the shaft and protecting the high quality natural hickory wood handle. The handle has an axe-style design for balanced swing and better leverage while a contoured handgrip provides comfort and reduces handle slippage.

"The combination of the new steel over-strike protection plate, the improved shaft to head assembly and the high quality hickory wooden handle answers the demanding needs of professional users who depend on a wooden framing hammer," said Chris Harrison, Product Manager for Stanley Striking and Struck Tools. "These features combine to extend the life of the tool and deliver exceptional performance."

The steel forged head is designed with a larger striking surface, providing a bigger "sweet spot" for greater accuracy and striking. For greater durability, the forged head is heat-treated and has a waffled face design, providing enhanced nail grip. A rim-tempered chamfered edge helps reduce chipping and a specially designed magnetic nail starter allows for one-handed nail setting.

The Stanley® FatMax™ Over-Strike Framing Hammer is a 22 oz. size and comes with a checkered face only. The Hammer is available at hardware stores and home centers wherever Stanley® products are sold and has suggested retail price is $24.99.
