Universal Engineering's Newest Product Revolutionizes Secondary Impact Crushing

Universal's NGS Secondary Impact Master Crusher Sets New Standards for Durability, Versatility and Profitability

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (March 20, 2003) - Higher reduction ratios, lower costs per ton, cubical products with superior soundness and maximum sustained productivity served as the inspiration for Universal Engineering Corp. (www.universalcrusher.com) to engineer its revolutionary secondary impactor - the Universal NGS Secondary Impact Master Crusher. Representing a new
generation of secondary impactors, the NGS Secondary Impact Master is designed to increase profitability by reducing overall operating expenses.

"Universal Engineering's history of innovation means that we're always introducing the most durable, flexible and profitable equipment to the market," says Universal Engineering President and CEO Daniel Ferguson. "With the Universal NGS Secondary Impact Master, we know that Universal will rewrite the book on secondary impact crushing. We've designed - from scratch - exactly what the industry's been looking for."

"We here at Universal Engineering are especially pleased that our new NGS Secondary Impact Master offers reduced downtime for adjustments, fewer wear parts to inventory and the opportunity for field modifications to accommodate changes in application and product requirements," explains Brian Shoger, Universal Engineering's senior engineer and lead designer of the NGS Secondary Impact Master.

The NGS Secondary Impact Master boasts a hydraulic-shim adjustment on each impact curtain; a bolt-on feed chute module designed for several feed components, including screens, feeders and conveyers; interchangeable liners throughout the impactor; extra large inspection doors; the latest in safety devices;
and a disc-type rotor equipped with "S"-shaped hammers for maximum sustained productivity. Universal Engineering notes that the standard design of the NGS Secondary Impact Master features:

• Heavy-duty fabricated steel construction

• An upper section of the housing that retracts hydraulically for easy access to the interior of the impactor

• Two independent, gravity-hung impact curtains with hydraulic-shim adjustment from outside of the machine

• Impact curtains equipped with interchangeable, abrasion-resistant liners

• A fabricated disc-rotor assembly with quick release hammer locks

• A rotor lock pinned from crusher housing into rotor body

• Top loading, reversible, alloy hammers with protruding leading edges

• Interchangeable abrasion-resistant alloy steel liners to protect the interior walls of the crushing chamber

• Large access doors on side, back and top of the crusher

The available optional equipment includes a tertiary curtain with hydraulic-shim adjustment, electric motor, jib crane, crusher sheave, drive guard, motor sheave, V-belts and feed chutes designed for specific applications.

"The NGS Secondary Impact Master was designed with more in mind than just adding durability and versatility to secondary crushing applications," notes Ferguson. "Creating profitability for our customers was a chief concern for us at Universal Engineering. That's why the NGS Secondary Impact Master comes in
a variety of dimensions and can ultimately crush up to 819 short tons per hour. That's just one of the important reasons why the NGS Secondary Impact Master is the right choice for so many operations."
