Flexible Heat Exchanger handes fluids with particulates.
March 19, 2003 -
Available in Polypropylene and Polyvinylidene Fluoride, CALORPLAST utilizes design that prevents solids buildup. All-plastic, corrosion-resistant heat exchanger incorporates tube bundle with movable heat transfer elements that connect to special feed and return flow manifold at one end. Other end of tubes are not connected and move freely inside chamber, preventing plugging or build-up of solids on tube wall. Unit is rated for 230 psig at ambient temperature of 68°F.

New Heat Exchanger Features Flexible Tubing for Handling Fluids with Particulates and Reclaiming Reuseble Energy
TUSTIN, Calif., March 6, 2003 - George Fischer, Inc. has introduced the CALORPLAST Flexible Heat Exchanger featuring a unique design which prevents solids buildup with fluids containing fibers or other particulates. The new all-plastic corrosion resistant Heat Exchanger is ideally suited for a wide range of applications including commercial laundry, dairy, wastewater treatment, heat recovery, or any application where a fluid containing particulate matter needs to be heated or cooled.
Conventional heat exchangers are typically prone to fouling and plugging of the tubing with fluids containing dirt deposits, contamination, fibers, suspended solid material and sedimentation. The CALORPLAST Flexible Heat Exchanger was developed to overcome these problems and at the same time provide an efficient means of reclaiming reusable energy sources. The innovative heat exchanger design incorporates a tube bundle with movable heat transfer elements. These tubing elements connect to a special feed and return flow manifold only at one end. The other end of the tubes are not connected and can move freely inside the chamber, preventing plugging or build-up of solids on the tube wall. The smooth wall of the plastic tubing also helps minimize potential particulate buildup.
Available in Polypropylene (PP) and Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), the heat exchangers are rated for 230 psig (PVDF) at an ambient temperature of 68° F and are custom designed to meet individual application requirements.
