Fette Introduces Fully-Contained, Wash-in-Place Tableting System at Interphex 2003

Available on three tablet press models, the system offers enhanced safety, efficiency and cleanliness

ROCKAWAY NJ - Fette, a leading manufacturer and supplier of tablet presses for both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical applications, will introduce a new full-containment Wash-In-Place (WIP) tableting system at Booth # 437 at Interphex 2003, March 31 to April 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Featuring Fette's proven reliability and advanced technology, the WIP tablet presses are integrated into a complete system that includes everything from an alpha-beta valve; to tablet press; to deduster; to metal check; to automatic tablet check; to tablet bin...all contained with isolators in a single system in one process room.

"Fully-contained, Fette's WIP system eliminates the need for space suits, enhances production safety, and does away with the need to open the tablet press or any other area of the system to remove parts prior to the wash cycle," explained Rich Derickson, Vice President of Sales & Operations for Fette America.

"The Fette WIP system affords the quickest and easiest changeover for reduced downtime and higher productivity with fewer presses," he continued. With glove ports and RTP ports in the tablet press doors and isolators (for ease of access so that containment is not compromised) the WIP system's main features include:

• All system aspects are contained in a single room.

• Elimination of bulky space suits and the need to open the system for parts removal prior to the wash cycle.

• Integration of flexible controls for wash down of all system components, including tablet press, charge system, and isolators. with no internal shrouds.

• Available in full range of Fette tablet press sizes and speeds: 1090WIP, 2090WIP, and 3090WIP.

• Capable of achieving very low OEL levels.

• Remotely located pump cabinet for WIP cleaning.

• Stainless steel turret, tooling, feeder, and all non-corrosive parts.

• WIP tablet presses can be run at both very low and very high speeds.

Fette also debuts new i-Series of enhanced machines, including the 4090i, capable of producing over 1.5 million tablets per hour.

Featuring quieter, simplified operation, the new i-Series includes model numbers 1200i, 2090i, 3090i and the world's highest-output tablet press, the Fette 4090i. "With a maximum output of over 1.5 million tablets per hour; multiple tooling options from 32 to 113 stations and from 6mm to 59mm tablets; single-, double, and triple-layer production capability; and bi-layer (tablet in tablet) production with core insert, the 4090i is the flagship of Fette's new i-Series line and a prime example of some of the most advanced tableting technology on today's market," explained Derickson. The proven technologies built in to the Fette 4090i include modular machine design; our patented exchange of the complete die table including tools and cams; equal-sized compression rollers for pre and main compression stations; patented punch saving and punch control.

Depending on the machine model, other i-Series enhancements can include automated die table removal for less manual work and physical exertion; automatic die table clamp for docking and undocking, reduces set-up and removal downtime; optional biometric and password protection for user log-in increases security; greater levels of sound dampening for a quieter environment; larger operating terminals with touch-screen functions for easier viewing and operation; and remote Fette diagnostics to optimize uptime.

The Fette 4090i Triple-Sided Tablet Press, 2090i Single-Sided Tablet Press, 3090 Double-Sided Tablet Press, and 1090 WIP Tablet Press will be on display at the Interphex Show. In addition, Fette's training and documentation department will be on hand to provide documentation regarding Fette's full compliance with 21 CFR Part 11. Fette will also display an isolation system for containment and ancillary dedusters and checkweighing systems.
