Omron's New 2-D Code Reader Features Steepest Camera Angle In the Industry

SCHAUMBURG, IL (June 25, 2003)-The Omron V530 2-D code reader, primarily for reading pin-stamped codes, has the steepest camera angle on the market. This dependable reading makes installation possible even on existing facilities with space limitations. The V530 also features an optional intelligent light source that reduces the background effects of processed and rough-surface metal parts. The light intensity is optimized for specific applications and stored in the controller menu for simpler changeover switching.

The V530 unit has dual camera capability. This two-camera setup allows the it to achieve single-product and lot management simultaneously, and allows greater positioning tolerance to increase the visual field for larger products. The controller can store up to 35 defect images in internal memory and up to 400 using compact flash cards, allowing the image analysis mode to detect marking problems quickly.

The expanded capability of Omron's V530 2-D code readers extends electronic part traceability to wider applications, including automotive parts assembly and other operations involving metal parts as well as glass PCBs, wafers and ultra-small components.

The Omron V530 code reader system is available from stock at an average system cost of $7,000.
