Control, Communications and Data Acquistion Capablities Now Available in a Rugged Scalable and Low-Cost Package
Knoxville, TN - TECLA™ programmable data processors are an embedded PC platform designed for both low-power and high-speed applications. The TECLA processors are highly customizable which makes them ideal for use in OEM applications such as telemetry, SCADA, and machine control. These PC-based processors interface with a variety of sensors, I/O, proprietary plant floor controls such as PLCs, popular automation networks, and enterprise information systems.
TECLA processors use the Microsoft® Windows® CE.NET operating system for compatibility with a wide range of software applications and include a 300 MHz x 86 processor for fast program execution. These processors also include standard PC communications ports that are not usually available in an industrial device such as USB, Ethernet®, PS/2, serial, and SVGA video. These ports enable connections to a wide variety of plant floor and front office communication and peripheral devices to enable flexible and configurable control, communications, data acquisition and networking.
For application flexibility, Allen-Bradley® I/O including 1769 Compact, 1794 Flex, 1793 Integra and 1797 Flex Ex can be directly plugged into the TECLA processor and embedded high-performance I/O is also available. To provide flexible and configurable network interfaces to enable multi-network bridging and remote I/O connections, several Custom Application Modules are available. These modules include extra serial ports, PCMCIA/Cardbus, DeviceNet™ or embedded protocols.
TECLA processors are designed with several features to withstand the effects of industrial environments. Their "disk-on-chip" storage device eliminates the shock, vibration, and grit problems often associated with rotating disk drives. TECLA also does not require a cooling fan to further reduce any internal contamination problems. To protect against the loss of real time data during a power outage, TECLA is DataSafe™ enabled and includes a lithium battery with a 30-day charge.
