DuPont Performance Lubricants Introduces New Line of Linear Krytox® Lubricants

WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 24, 2003 -- DuPont Performance Lubricants introduces DuPont(tm) Krytox® L, a new line of "Linear" perfluorinated oils and greases with enhanced viscosity profile for performance over a broader temperature range. The new Krytox® L line increases the performance of Krytox® lubricants, which have been the primary choice for extended life, extreme performance, and harsh environment lubrication in aerospace, aviation, national defense, and other performance driven applications for over 35 years.

Krytox® L lubricants provide a wide operating temperature range, excellent low temperature properties, and extreme low volatility even at high temperatures. This results in low torque at cold start up combined with a viscous lubricating film at high operating temperatures. The Krytox® L line allows for performance from -100° F to 599° F in a variety of applications. Krytox® L oils and greases are available with the DuPont patented XP soluble additive, the first thermally stable soluble anti-wear and anti-corrosion additive for fluoropolymer lubricants. The XP additive forms a durable protective coating on metal surfaces resulting in reduced wear, fretting, corrosion, and torque. Krytox® lubricants alone exhibit excellent load carrying capability and a substantial reduction in wear vs. alternative technologies. With the incorporation of the XP additive, wear is reduced up to an additional 80 percent. Krytox® XP also received the NASA Tech Briefs award for new product innovation. Krytox® base oils and additives are manufactured within the DuPont fluoropolymer supply chain as a derivative of DuPont Teflon®. DuPont is the largest producer of fluoropolymers in the world and a leader in fluoropolymer and fluorine technology. Krytox® polymer chains are completely saturated and contain only carbon, oxygen, and fluorine. Hydrogen is not present. For more information on DuPont Krytox® performance lubricants, including distributors for these products, call 1-800-424-7502 or, visit the Krytox® Web site: http://www.krytox.com. DuPont is a science company. Founded in 1802, DuPont puts science to work by solving problems and creating solutions that make people's lives better, safer and easier.
