Vicor Introduces One Square Inch Universal Noise Attenuator in a SIP Package
Compatible with most switchmode DC sources from 3 to 30 Vdc
ANDOVER, Mass. – February 2003 – This first QuietPower™ output ripple attenuation module — designated QPO-1 — uses active filtering in a SIP package to provide >20 dB of conducted differential noise attenuation from 60 Hz to 500 kHz. This QuietPower module is rated for 10 Amps and can be used with most switchmode power supplies having output voltages from 3 to 30 Vdc.
The QPO-1 is the first product from Vicor’s new power IC subsidiary, Picor Corp. It offers the basic functionality of Vicor’s popular µRAM ¼-brick module in a package one-tenth the size at one-third the price.
The QPO-1’s closed-loop architecture greatly improves the load transient response of the source power supply and features precise point of load voltage regulation. The SIP can control the source either through the remote sense leads or through the voltage trim lead. The QPO-1 supports parallel operation for high current requirements.
The SIP measures 1 x 1 x 0.2 inch (25 x 25 x 5 mm). Units are surface-mountable with either Land Grid Array or Ball Grid Array terminations. QuietPower QPO-1 modules are priced as low as $12 in OEM quantities and are available from stock.
