Surface Mountable Solid Pins create solder bond with PCBs.
December 30, 2002 - Resistant to effects of thermal cycling, pins incorporate design on pad allowing products to achieve proprietary capillary action. Capillary action eliminates need for fixturing by eliminating solder joint voids. Products are compatible with auto placement systems and can be fed using Surf-Shooter SMT™ Assembly systems. They are available in 0.040, 0.060, and 0.080 in. dia and varying lengths. Standard pins are brass with tin/lead 95/5 over copper finish.

Zierick's Surface Mountable Solid Pins Ensure Higher Retention to PCBs
MOUNT KISCO, NY -Zierick Manufacturing Corporation, a leading provider of PCB connectors and assembly equipment, introduces its NEW Surface Mountable Solid Pins, which deliver significantly higher retention and greater solderjoint strength compared with traditional surface mountable pins. These pins incorporate a unique design on the pad, which allows the pins to achieve Zierick's proprietary capillary action, creating a stronger solder bond to the printed circuit board.
Additionally, this unique capillary action eliminates the need for fixturing, minimizes rework, increases interconnection reliability, and improves quality by eliminating solder joint voids. Solder voids weaken solder joints, and field evaluations show that pins with enhanced capillary action are more resistant to the effects of thermal cycling.
These pins are compatible with auto placement systems, and can be fed using Zierick's Surf-Shooter SMT™ Assembly systems. They are available in 0.040 in. (1.02mm), 0.060 in. (1.52mm) and 0.080 in. (2.03mm) diameters and a variety of lengths. Standard pins are brass with a tin/lead 95/5 over copper finish; however, copper pins are also available upon request.
Since 1919, Zierick has manufactured a full line of standard and custom engineered electronic connectors, electrical hardware and automated assembly equipment. Zierick is an ISO 9001 company.
