Ferraz Shawmut Releases New Line of Semiconductor Fuses
A15QS Amp-Trap® Form 101 Fuses Deliver Big Protection in a Compact Design
NEWBURYPORT, Mass., December 4, 2002-Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, recently announced the introduction of its new line of A15QS Amp-Trap Form 101 semiconductor fuses. Designed specifically for the protection of diodes, thyristors, GTOs (Gate Turn-Off Thyristors) and other semiconductor devices, typical system applications include heavy duty devices such as rectifiers, inverters and phase controllers.
Rated 150V AC/DC and ranging from 1 to 6000A, the A15QS offers withstand ratings up to 200kA. The new product line incorporates the superior current-limiting capabilities of the company's renowned Amp-Trap brand while its compact design makes it ideal for applications with space limitations. In addition, the new A15QS line offers optional indication features for those systems requiring fuse status.
"The new A15QS product line has been designed to provide a high level of protection in a space-saving, compact package," said Dan Dunlap, product manager for Ferraz Shawmut. "Featuring an improved AC/DC rating, low clearing I²t and low watts loss performance, this new product enables designers and end users to utilize semiconductor devices to their maximum capacity without compromising protection in the event of a fault condition. Moreover, its standard North American footprint, superior performance in cyclic conditions and appealing price structure make the A15QS a compelling alternative to competitive products."
The new A15QS has been designed to replace Ferraz Shawmut's existing A13X and A13Z product lines, which will be discontinued in 2003. Available immediately, the Al5QS semiconductor protection fuses are UL Recognized components, feature AC approvals for UL Guide Number JFHR2 (1-4000A) and have been DC tested to UL Standard 198L parameters (1-4000). Complete product specifications can be found in Ferraz Shawmut's Advisor style cut-sheet or on the company's award-winning Web site at www.ferrazshawmut.com.
