Meller Custom Sapphire Optics are manufactured to OEM specifications as balls from 0.005" to 0.5" dia., as plano convex and plano concave lenses and windows from 0.5" to 6" dia., and as rectangles, squares, and cones. Featuring design characteristics such as steps, wedges, precision holes, and radical curves, sapphire optics exhibit Moh 9 hardness, making them ideal for applications requiring greater durability than glass or quartz.
Providing diameter tolerances to ±0.001", thickness tolerances to ±0.0005", and surface finishes to 10-5 scratch-dig, Meller Custom Sapphire Optics have a surface figure to 1/10th wave in the visible and <2 arc-sec. in./in. parallelism. They are capable of transmitting from the UV to IR with up to 85% transmission uncoated and up to 99% with A/R coatings on two sides.
