New Coax Cable Offers Lower Cost than RG 316

HARRISBURG, Pa., November 26- Tyco Electronics today announced the availability of a low cost substitute for RG 316 coaxial cables. The new RAYCHEM brand product performs as well or better than standard RG 316 cables. Additionally, the new product is dimensionally equivalent to standard RG 316 and it can be terminated using standard connectors. Raychem low cost RG 316 cable is suitable for applications where standard RG 316 is specified, but the operating temperature will not exceed 100 degrees C. Specifically, the product could be used in commercial equipment, automobiles, medical devices, instrumentation and satellite radios.

In addition to cost benefits, RAYCHEM low cost RG 316 cable offers small size, non-melting insulation and low attenuation loss up to 5 GHz. Impedance is rated at 50 ohms with a velocity of propagation of 66%. Maximum attenuation is rated at 41.67 dB/100 feet at 2.35 GHz. The bare copper center conductor is surrounded by RAYOLIN L dielectric material; a tin plated copper braid and THERMORAD F jacketing.

RAYCHEM low cost RG 316 coax cable is priced 20-25% lower than the standard RG 316 product.
