Uncommonly Quiet: Ducane's Horizontal 80 Gas Furnace
(BLACKVILLE, SC, October 29, 2002) - Ducane's Horizontal 80 gas furnace is efficient, economical, and uncommonly quiet.
The Horizontal 80 gives homeowners more peace and quiet through such innovative ideas as the individual balancing of each blower wheel in each furnace, Ducane's whisper burners, and the Honeywell® slow-opening gas valve. The Horizontal 80 can operate up to 20 percent more efficiently than older units, with no continuous pilot light to waste gas or blow out. Its compact size and low silhouette allow easy attic and crawl space entry, reducing installation costs.
The Horizontal 80's durability is increased by its specially designed Crimp-Tite™ heat exchanger that uses mechanical seams, which are crimped rather than welded. The crimping technique eliminates stresses developed with arc or seam welding and protects the aluminized coating. Ducane's weld-free seam process creates a clean, leak-free seal -- more reliable than conventional welding. A heavy gauge cabinet also makes the unit more durable and provides corrosion protection.
This 80 percent AFUE gas furnace has a heating range of 50,000 to 125,000 Btuh and supports a cooling capacity of 1 ˝ to five tons. It has a limited 25-year warranty on the heat exchanger and a 5-year warranty on parts.
The Horizontal 80 also has several features that provide flexibility for installation and add-ons, including horizontal left or horizontal right applications, vertical venting or horizontal with mechanical draft, and connections for an electronic air cleaner, humidifier, and continuous fan.
Other features include a time delay off for air conditioner SEER enhancement, integrated furnace control, direct spark ignition, and a three-speed blower motor.
Best of all, the Horizontal 80 gas furnace serves as a direct replacement for nearly every dedicated horizontal unit on the market.
The Ducane brand is manufactured by Excel Comfort Systems in Blackville, S.C.
