New High-Durability Marathon® Series Bearing Units and IWIS Drive Chains Highlight MRS® Exhibit at Pack Expo 2002

New products are intended for meat, pork, and poultry processing equipment, and demanding nonfood applications

New high-strength, corrosion-resistant Marathon® HDi Series cast-iron bearing units and Marathon XDS cast stainless steel bearing units, as well as IWIS drive chain products for packaging applications, will highlight the MRC® Bearing Services exhibit at Pack Expo International 2002, November 3 - 7, McCormick Place, Chicago, Ill.

At the show MRC Bearing Services will occupy Booth 6967.
MRC will also exhibit its existing line of Marathon composite mounted bearing units for food industry and other applications. Summaries of featured products appear below:

Marathon HDi Series Bearing Units

Marathon HDi Series bearing units are designed for red meat and pork processing applications and for nonfood applications requiring durability and corrosion resistance. The units' cast-iron ZMaRC®-coated housings withstand assault from food products, high-pressure washdowns and sanitizing chemicals, and resist flaking that is common with nickel-plated housings. Additional protection comes from the units' insert bearings, which have ZMaRC-coated inner and outer rings. The ZMaRC coating equips the insert bearings to perform better in washdown conditions than insert bearings with conventional coatings, such as black oxide. The units are lubed for life, reducing maintenance and lubrication costs.

Marathon XDs Stainless Steel Bearing Units

Marathon XDs bearing units feature AISI 300 cast stainless steel housings-the strongest housings offered in the Marathon line. The housings are cast exceptionally smooth and with no recesses to trap food particles or other debris. Equipped with a stainless steel insert bearing, they resist the most aggressive washdown chemicals, including strongly concentrated chlorine and hydrogen peroxide. They are ideal for poultry, where stainless products are commonplace, as well as well as red meat, and for any equipment with high loads or possible shock loads.

IWIS Drive Chain Products

Also featured at the MRC booth will be IWIS MEGAlife Maintenance-Free Chains and IWIS CR Corrosion-Resistant Chains, supplied by SKF Motion Technologies in partnership with the German manufacturer IWIS. IWIS MEGAlife chains can operate with no lubrication, making them ideal for food-industry packaging lines and for difficult-to-lubricate applications. The chains exhibit excellent wear resistance, provide corrosion resistance and offer high fatigue strength. IWIS CR chains are made of hardened high-alloy steels and feature significantly higher fatigue resistance and breaking strength than stainless steel chains. They also withstand corrosion better than nickel-plated or other surface-plated chains, which are susceptible to scratching and flaking.

Additional chains and accessory products for the packaging industry will also be exhibited. These include a special wax lubricant, which can be used on all chains and helps protect chains from dirt and other contaminants while providing proper lubrication.
