BBA Filtration Introduces Typar Super Scrimâ„¢ for Filtration Applications

BBA Filtration is introducing a unique new scrim for support in filtration media called Typar Super Scrimâ„¢. Typar®* is a proven media in the filtration industry and has been used for more than 25 years. Typar Super Scrim builds on the advantages that have made Typar such a success in the filtration industry.

"Typar's key benefits are high strength, resistance to tearing, stiffness and the non-dusting characteristic of its continuous filaments," said Frank Baker, Marketing Director with BBA Filtration. "Typar Super Scrim has those properties, but it has also been engineered to decrease resistance to airflow, thus optimizing it as a support component in filtration media. We're excited about the introduction of this product because we believe it will open up opportunities for applications that require stiff and open scrims."

Typar Super Scrim spunbonded polypropylene media offers higher airflow, especially when compared to pointbonded scrim supports. Its polypropylene construction allows it to be electrostatically charged and makes it perfect for use in electrostatically charged composites, especially with meltblowns. It also has great
stiffness and strength, making it ideal for pleating. Available in weights from 1.75 to 8.0 osy (59 to 272 gsm), Typar Super Scrim is excellent for ASHRAE-related pleated or multi-pocket bag filters.

Typar Super Scrim can be used as a backing, facing or between layers of filtration media. It has no binders such as glue, adhesives or acrylic to limit the filtering area, maintains its physical properties when wet and is dimensionally stable.

BBA Filtration is a member of BBA Nonwovens, one of the world's largest nonwoven manufacturers. For more information, call 1-800-543-4935 or visit the web site at www.bbafiltration.com.

* Typar® is the registered trademark for BBA Nonwovens Reemay, Inc. spunbonded polypropylene products in North, Central and South America, Israel and South Africa. Tekton® is the registered trademark used elsewhere in the world.
