Nilfisk-Advance America Introduces High-Efficiency Oil Vacuums at IMTS 2002

Innovative vacuums simultaneously, collect metalworking fluids from the sump, filter-debris, and pump cleaned fluids into the reservoir tank for reuse, saving time and money

Chicago, September 4, 2002 — Industrial vacuum cleaner manufacturer Nilfisk-Advance America introduced its new line of CFM Oil Vacuums today at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2002 (September 4-11, McCormick Place, Chicago, Booth 6579). The new single-step vacuums enable workers to collect coolants, lubricants, cutting, oils, and metal scraps; filter out debris; and pump the purified fluids into a reservoir tank for immediate reuse. Nilfisk-Advance America's Oil Vacuums perform these cleaning, tasks simultaneously —without leaving, the sump — dramatically shortening the cleaning, process. They are used for a variety of metalworking machines, including lathes, milling, machines, and cutting, and grinding machines.

Nilfisk-Advance America's efficient Oil Vacuums are designed to help metalworking plants save money. They filter metal scraps and particles down to 100 microns in size (the average width of a human hair is 80-100 microns), producing cleaner fluids. Cleaner metalworking fluids perform better and last longer, reducing fluid-replacement costs. They also protect cutting tools and other equipment from excessive wear and tear, reducing maintenance and repair costs.

"While designing our Oil Vacuums, we found that many people are using, ordinary 'shop vacs' to clean out machine sumps," said Mike D'Agostino, product manager for Nilfisk-Advance America. "Not only is this a time-consuming, costly approach; it's also dangerous. Shop vacs lack the filtration systems to adequately handle this type of cleaning."

D'Agostino continued, "When metalworking fluids (MWFs) are collected, they can atomize into dangerous aerosols inside the vacuum. With a shop vac, these aerosols are released into the ambient environment where they circulate in the air, eventually settling on floors and equipment. This creates an invisible safety and hygiene threat. But with our Oil Vacuums' specialized filtration technology, the aerosols are trapped and securely contained." [For more information, please see attached fact sheet].

Live demonstrations of the new Oil Vacuums will be conducted daily at booth 6579. For details on scheduled press demos led by the company's executives, stop by booth 6579 and ask for Paul Miller, vice president; or Jessica Abel, Public Relations Coordinator.

FACT SHEET

Nilfisk-Advance America is among the world's premier providers of high-performance industrial vacuum cleaners. Its Nilfisk- and CFM-brand vacuums are found in powder coating, fabricated metals, and machining applications around the world; and the company has pioneered many vacuum innovations during its 40+-year history. With the introduction of its new line of CFM Oil Vacuums, Nilfisk-Advance America further solidifies its position as a major vacuum innovator, developing products that help metalworking plants increase cleaning safety and efficiency.

The company's new single-step Oil Vacuums are designed to make the reclamation of metalworking fluids (MWFs) easier, faster, and safer for metalworking professionals. They enable workers to simultaneously collect, filter, and recirculate fluids into the system...all without leaving the sump. Timesaving features — such as a liquid discharge pump for easy disposal of filtered coolants and a manual tilt collection container for simple waste disposal — help workers further increase efficiency.

Additionally, Nilfisk-Advance America's line of Oil Vacuums helps metalworking plants save money. Using a unique macro-filtration system, the vacuums produce cleaner fluids that perform better and last longer, while preserving the life of expensive machinery and parts.

Introducing Nilfisk-Advance America's Single-Step Oil Vacuums

• The CFM Oil 220 - Compact, lightweight, and powerful, the CFM Oil 220 is ideal for cleaning in tight spaces within the metalworking/machining plant. It is used to collect scrap from working surfaces. as well as to clean out machine sumps. The CFM Oil 220 has a collection capacity of 55 gallons.

• The CFM Oil 220M - Nilfisk-Advance America's CFM Oil 220M provides high performance in a single-phase powered vacuum. Similar in design and purpose to the CFM Oil 220, the 220M collects metal scrap and cleans out machine sumps. It has a 55-gallon collection capacity.

• The CFM Oil 440 - The CFM Oil 440 is designed to handle high-volume, heavy-duty collection. It is equipped with a manual tipping device for easy waste disposal, and has a coolant collection capacity of 106 gallons.

• The CFMI Oil 675 - The largest vacuum in the new product line, Nilfisk-Advance America's CFM Oil 675 provides 159 gallons of coolant capacity. Like the 440, it is equipped with a manual tipping device for easy waste disposal. Additionally, the CFM Oil 675's powerful blower delivers 289" of waterlift and 294 cfms of airflow.
