Transformer Management System interfaces with utility IT networks.
September 18, 2002 - FARADAY™ tMEDIC on line transformer management system collects data from transformer and sensors, interprets it using online analysis models, continuously assesses condition of equipment, and can diagnose failure modes. This reduces cost of maintenance and unplanned outages, and improves reliability and availability by detecting problems before they occur. Monitoring options include dissolved combustible gas, temperatures, bushings, and fault event capture.

GE Power Systems Introduces New Transformer Management System
ATLANTA, GA.- August 27, 2002 - GE Power Systems has combined the strengths of its power transformer management and substation and network communications technologies to create the new FARADAY™ tMEDIC transformer management system, an online monitoring system that enables operators of oil-filled power transformers to most efficiently use and manage their equipment.
The FARADAY tMEDIC (Transformer Management, Equipment Diagnostics with Integrated Communications) system can help reduce the cost of transformer maintenance and unplanned outages, and improve reliability and availability by detecting problems before they occur. The system collects data from the transformer and its sensors and interprets it using online analysis models to continuously assess the condition of the equipment and diagnose the most prevalent failure modes. Transformer analysis features of the FARADAY™ TMCS have been incorporated into the FARADAY tMEDIC, which has the added feature of many communications protocols for interface to existing substation SCADA systems.
Key features of the FARADAY tMEDIC system include online moisture analysis and other analysis models, and integration of a broad range of other monitoring options including dissolved combustible gas, temperatures, On-Load TapChangers, bushings, partial discharge and fault event capture. In addition, the system provides comprehensive communication solutions to interface to utility IT networks, local substation LANs and serial connections to SCADA host computers.
