Separators remove particles down to 4 microns.
September 16, 2002 - Series CLC Coalescers/Separators have 2-stage design that allows them to remove 99% of all liquid and solid particulate matter larger than 4 microns from air and gas streams. Units have no moving parts to fail or wear out. Applications include compressed refrigeration gases, evaporator overhead steam, high pressure gas at injection wells, fuel gas lines to engines in power and industrial plants, and regulator stations.

Two-Stage Separator Removes Solid and Liquid Particles Down to 4 Microns in Size
Hayward's Wright-Austin Series CLC Coalescers/Separators have a unique two-stage design that allows them to remove 99% of all
liquid and solid particulate matter larger than 4 microns in size from air and gas streams. Ordinary one-stage separators can only remove particles larger than 10 microns in size. The efficiency of the Wright-Austin Coalescers/Separators far exceeds that of any other type of centrifugal, cyclone, turyere or vane type separator.
The coalescers/separators have no moving parts to fail or wear out. The only maintenance required is the inspection, cleaning or
replacement of the coalescing pad. This is easily accomplished
through either a quick-opening body closure or body flanges.
Operation of the coalescer/separator is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the coalescer stage, the smaller liquid droplets enter a special wire mesh coalescer pad in the vessel. This pad increases the size of the droplets as they pass through it so that they are easier to remove. The larger liquid droplets exit the mesh pad and enter the second, or separation, stage. Here the droplets are centrifugally thrown to the outside wall and flow to the bottom of the vessel for draining. The Vortex Containment Plate, a Wright-Austin exclusive, prevents the droplets from being re-entrained after separation.
Hayward's Wright-Austin Series CLC Coalescers/Separators are very efficient in removing liquid in the form of a fine mist or fog from gas or vapor. Processes where fine mists are encountered, such as cooling, condensation, flashing or evaporation, can benefit from these coalescers/ separators. Examples of applications include compressed refrigeration gases, evaporator overhead steam, compressed air prior to desiccant dryer beds, high pressure gas at injection wells, fuel gas lines to engines in power and industrial plants, natural gas and gas distribution lines, and regulator stations.
