July 18, 2002 - BONDMASTER® 40-0857 polyvinyl, emulsion adhesive exhibits the following surface burning characteristics: flame spread, 10; fuel contributed, 0; and smoke density, 0. Adhesive may be applied using direct roll coater or spraying to facing and contains ingredient that kills mildew for protection against fungus, bacteria, and mold. It laminates foil, vinyl, and composite facings to glass insulation mat.

Thrifty, Advanced Adhesive for Insulation is Easily Applied
BRIDGEWATER, NJ--An advanced, polyvinyl, emulsion adhesive for laminating foil, vinyl and composite facings to glass insulation mat gives outstanding mileage. According to the manufacturer, it also provides excellent machinability and cleans up easily with water.
Designated BONDMASTER® 40-0857 adhesive, this product meets the requirements of NFPA-90A (Installation of Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems 1985) and NFPA 90B (Warm Air Heating and Air Conditioning Systems 1984). Furthermore, when this adhesive was tested by Underwriters Laboratories as applied to inorganic-reinforced cement board at a coverage of 500 square feet/gallon, it exhibited the following surface burning characteristics: Flame spread, 10; fuel contributed, 0; and smoke density, 0.
Roll goods made with BONDMASTER 40-0857 adhesive under the conditions set forth in National's UL Batts & Blankets listing have received FHC 25/50 UL ratings. Approved facings include foil/scrim/kraft, vinyl, vinyl/scrim/kraft, vinyl/scrim/polyester and polyester/scrim/kraft.
Insulation manufacturers may apply BONDMASTER 40-0857 adhesive using a direct roll coater or spraying to the facing. The manufacturer may apply the liquid adhesive to glass insulation and this adhesive will dry in the roll, permitting high-speed production.
BONDMASTER 40-0857 adhesive contains an ingredient that kills mildew to provide protection against fungus, bacteria and mold. Thus, the dried film will meet ASTM D-202 requirements. They cover mildew resistance of paper, paperboard and related products.
