Adhesive offers working time of 90 min at room temperature.

July 12, 2002 - Plexus® MA557 2-part methacrylate adhesive is designed for structural bonding of composites, thermoplastics, and thermosets. Mixed as dispensed at 10:1 ratio, adhesive cures to tensile strength of 2200-2500 psi, providing fatigue endurance and impact resistance. It resists hydrocarbons, salt solutions, and acids and bases in solution (3-10 pH). MA557 eliminates problems associated with adhesive swim and sag, even when applied to vertical surfaces.

New Long Open Time Adhesive for Large Boats, Vehicles, and Structures

DANVERS, MA - With a working time of approximately 90 minutes at room temperature, Plexus® MA557 two-part methacrylate adhesive is designed for the structural bonding of large assemblies,
including those in boats, trucks, buses, architectural elements, signs, and bridge decking/railings.

MA557 is ideal for bonding composites, thermoplastics, and thermosets, including ABS, acrylics, FRP, polyesters (including DCPD modified), PVC, urethanes, styrenics, and vinyl esters. It requires virtually no surface preparation, bonds to gel coats, and eliminates time-consuming and costly grinding. Mixed as
dispensed at a 10:1 ratio, this long open time adhesive cures to a tensile strength of 2200-2500 psi, providing excellent fatigue endurance, outstanding impact resistance, and superior toughness. It also resists hydrocarbons, salt solutions, and acids and bases in solution (from 3 to 10 pH).

MA557 offers the exceptional stackability needed for larger jobs. It eliminates problems associated with adhesive "swim" (slide) and sag, even when applied to vertical surfaces. MA557 will not boil in gaps up to 1.5 wide. Available in 490-ml cartridges, 5-gallon pails, and 50-gallon drums, MA557 can be
dispensed with standard meter-mix equipment or Plexus purpose-built FusionMate™ dispensing systems.

Plexus has more than 30 years of experience in the design, development, and production of epoxy and methacrylate bonding agents. The company's products are widely used in the marine, automotive, architectural, infrastructure, transportation, construction, and manufacturing industries. The industry
leader in structural bonding in the marine industry, Plexus Adhesives have revolutionized boatbuilding, allowing builders to produce stronger, lighter, faster, and more durable boats. By replacing glassed-in wooden stringers with bonded one-piece, all-composite grid systems, Plexus Adhesives have made assembly quicker and easier and have eliminated the problems of wood beneath the water line.
