EMI Cage offers one-piece construction.

May 29, 2002 - Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) EMI Cage, for use with both copper and optical SFP transceivers in Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and Infiniband applications, is compatible with SFP Transceiver Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). One-piece construction prevents separation of pieces and minimizes seams from which EMI radiation can leak. Press-fit pins allow cage to be securely mounted to printed circuit board without solder.

Methode's DataMate Products Introduces Its Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) EMI Cage

CHICAGO, IL - dataMate Products, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc., introduces its Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) EMI Cage. The EMI Cage is designed for use with both copper and optical SFP transceivers in Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and Infiniband applications.

dataMate's EMI Cage is a robust, one-piece construction that prevents the separation of pieces that often occurs in the processing and handling of two-piece models. The unique one-piece design also minimizes the seams from which EMI radiation can leak. Furthermore, the one-piece construction offers the additional benefits of reduced inventory and assembly expenses. The EMI Cage is designed with press-fit pins, which allow the cage to be securely mounted to a printed circuit board without solder.

Because the EMI Cage is fully compatible with the standard MSA footprint, no circuit board modification is required. The press-fit pins have been designed to allow for mounting in belly-to-belly applications in order to double port density.

The EMI Cage is just a part of dataMate's new line of Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) products, which also includes the Active and Passive Patch Cord Assembly, the Copper Transceiver, and the Copper Loopback. The Cage is compliant with the Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) Transceiver Multi-Source Agreement (MSA).

dataMate's EMI Cage is priced under $2 in quantities of 10k. Samples are available from stock.
