Harman Corporation offers High Temperature Masking Supplies
Harman Corporation (Rochester, Michigan) offers a comprehensive line of standard and custom molded high temperature (up to 700°F/371°C) masks for industrial and automotive finishing processes including painting, anodizing, plating, and powder coating. The line includes masking discs, tapes, caps and plugs to withstand varying temperatures.
The self adhesive, die-cut masking discs are supplied on rolls in either polyester or KaptonŽ material. The polyester discs, available in green or blue, are 2 mils thick with 1.5 mils silicone adhesive. The KaptonŽ discs are 1 mil thick with 1.5 mils silicone adhesive and come in an amber color. Masking tapes in the line are offered in Polyester, KaptonŽ or Silicone. The tapes, available in a variety of widths, provide easy masking of irregular shapes.
Harman also supplies silicone, vinyl and neoprene caps and plugs in various shapes including round, tapered, washer and pull-style. Tapered plugs are suitable for threaded or non-threaded holes. Washer plugs are double ended for versatility, ease of fitting and removal. Pull plugs are suggested for masking when a hole can be reached from both sides.
Silicone is recommended for higher temperature (up to 600°F/315°C) powder coating applications. Silicone caps and plugs also are reusable. Neoprene is ideal for lower temperature (375°F/177°C) plating, spray-painting, and sand blasting applications. In addition, high temperature vinyl caps and plugs provide an inexpensive disposable mask that will withstand temperatures up to 450°F/220°C.
