May 01, 2013 Able to withstand cleaning with high-pressure water, Heavy-Duty Cooling Packages are available on 2013 Volvo Penta D5, D7, D13, and D16 Stage IIIB/Tier 4i engines as well as D13 and D16 Stage II engines, which cover 129–565 kW range. Systems are available as suction- and pusher-type models for all heavy-duty radiator units. Heavy-duty cable harnesses use split synthetic polyester tubing as cable protection. Wrapped around cables, tubing making cables practically immobile, even at high vibrations.

Apr 04, 2013 Automatic start/stop option for Volvo Penta industrial diesel engines can achieve fuel savings of 5% or more by switching engine off when idling and consequently helps reduce emissions and noise. When machine's engine idles, this option turns engine off after pre-set time (usually 5–10 sec). Engine starts immediately when driver activates any of machine's controls, and work can continue. Start/stop capability can be deactivated or reactivated as needed.

Max torque is reached at 800-900 rpm, which facilitates maneuvering and aids towing at low speeds, using power take-off, and performing crash stop. Mid-position, twin-entry turbo with waste gate, offering pulse charging with high charge air pressure directly from low rpm, is combined with Miller inlet valve timing for optimal performance.

Unit injectors, one per cylinder, operate at as much as 2,000 bar and atomize fuel for optimum combustion. Keel cooling, heat exchanger, or radiator cooling options are available, and standard features include mid-position, twin-entry turbo with waste gate; rigid block design; and rear-end transmission.

Aug 27, 2010 Providing electronic shift and throttle, EVC-D Electronic Vessel Control System features push-button panel where driver can select cruise control, single-lever mode, low-speed mode, power trim assistant, and throttle only. Controls are for all Volvo Penta propulsion systems, including IPS, sterndrive, and inboard shaft. With single-lever mode activated, all engines are handled with one lever and engines' rpm is automatically synchronized, minimizing both vibration and noise.

EMS 2 engine control system regulates fuel injection and monitors engine conditions, while quick-shift reverse gear provides fast but soft shifting.

Joystick provides direction control, while Dynamic Positioning System holds boat's heading.
