High-Performance Polyamides target mHealth electronic devices.

Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC    Augusta, GA 30916
Jun 20, 2014 Kalix® high-performance polyamides (HPPAs) – halogen-free Kalix HPPA 5000 series; bio-based, amorphous Kalix HPPA 3000 series; and bio-sourced, impact-resistant PPA grade Kalix 2000 series – are suited for structural components used in mobile healthcare (mHealth) electronic devices. Strength, stiffness, and chemical resistance properties specifically complement requirements of covers and housings for healthcare displays, terminals, and modules along with chassis, housings, and bezels.

ECTFE Resins suit production of front sheets for PV modules.

Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC    Augusta, GA 30916
May 02, 2014 Able to be extruded into transparent film with over 90% light transmission, Halar® PV ECTFE semi-crystalline, melt-processable fluoropolymer resin provides water vapor barrier (<1 g/m²/day) as well as chemical and fire resistance. Product offers long-term weatherability and is suitable for 20+ years of direct exposure to sunlight. In addition to properties as Halar PV, Halar UV blocking technology provides long-term UV blocking performance to meet 25-year performance life for PV modules.

Polysulfone Foam is designed for wire and cable applications.

Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC    Augusta, GA 30916
Apr 15, 2014 Providing low-halogen content and low-smoke performance, Udel® P-1703 NT polysulfone (PSU) foam passes NFPA 262 smoke and flame test for plenum (CMP) applications. Resin has specific gravity of 1.24 and foam rate of 50%–60%; latter imparts dielectric constant of 1.8–2 to meet cable electrical requirements without requiring significant modifications to existing constructions. By controlling processing conditions, foaming level can be tuned to 20%–70% closed-cell structure utilized in industry.

Polymer Extrusion Material produces ultra-thin films.

Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC    Augusta, GA 30916
May 09, 2011 Offered as alternative to polyetheretherketone (PEEK(TM)), AvaSpire® AV-630 polyaryletherketone (PAEK) is designed for extrusion of ultra-thin film to thicknesses as low as 6 microns. Ductility promotes puncture resistance, which enhances handling in manufacturing operations. In addition to mechanical properties along both flow and transverse directions that exhibit increased consistency/uniformity, material also offers optimized heat deflection temperature (HDT) and flammability resistance.

PEEK Grade suits wire and cable insulation applications.

Solvay Advanced Polymers, LLC    Augusta, GA 30916
Mar 30, 2011 Consisting of medium-viscosity resin, KetaSpire® KT-851 NT is for use in melt extrusion-based wire and cable insulation layers, as well as monofilaments, multi-filament fibers, ultra-thin tubing, and films. Semi-crystalline material allows for production of articles that are low in gel content and other particulate contamination. KT-851 NT incorporates trace level of lubricant dusted on pellets to facilitate conveying in extrusion screws, while KT-851 NL is pure polymer with no lubricant.
