Maintaining backward compatibility with SATA 3 Gbps and SATA 1.5 Gbps interfaces, drive uses same cables and connectors as previous SATA generations to facilitate integration.

Web-based interface lets end-users access digital content from anywhere through any Internet-connected computer or via iPhone application. RSS feeds keeps followers informed of changes to content, and 3 additional USB ports allow for concurrent connection of up to 4 mass storage devices.

Each 7,200 rpm HDD has 3 Gbps SATA interface and, depending on model, offers typical idle acoustics of 2.3 or 2.5 bels and power consumption rates of 5 or 7 W.

BlackArmor NAS 420 comes with 2 drives in 4 drive chassis, where as BlackArmor NAS 440 comes fully populated with four drives. Capacities for both models vary from 2 Tb in BlackArmor NAS 420, to maximum capacity of 8 Tb in BlackArmor NAS 440.
