Zeus: Accelerated FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink Capabilities

Enhanced capabilities make Zeus FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink ideal for next generation developments as composite release aids, fuel cell, down hole petroleum insulations, and other applications that require thin film-like properties in a heat shrink.

Orangeburg, SC- Zeus, Inc., a global leader in high performance polymer extrusion and material science, announces its accelerated FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink capabilities. Zeus now manufactures FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink in diameters over 4", with ultra thin walls of .002", demonstrating machine-like capability with performance plastics. FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink is a material of choice in applications where non-flammable plastics are required even in high operating temperatures exceeding 400⁰F (204⁰C). These products also meet the FAR 25.853(a) and UL-VO flammability ratings. FEP Lay-flat Heat shrink has excellent non-stick properties, which allow it to be a seamless alternative to tapes or other films in composite release aid applications.

"Our capabilities in FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink exceed current industry standards and allow us to offer larger diameter thin wall heat shrinkable products," said Rob Hall, Vice President of Engineered Extrusions. "We are now able to meet the demand for value-oriented fluoropolymer solutions from a larger market, previously unattainable due to size limitations."

Within the aerospace industry, FEP Lay-flat Heat Shrink is excellent for battery pack covers. Due to flammability ratings, FEP is a leading choice as a material replacement to lower flame rated plastics used in consumer battery packs. These products are also heavily utilized in aerospace applications as a release agent needed to form composites. FEP is an approved contact material with composites. Additionally, it is also utilized in the fabrication of various composites due to its lubricity and ability to withstand elevated autoclave temperatures in excess of 350⁰F (177⁰C).
