Yamaha Generators Increases Support for Tech 3 Moto Racing Team

Additional EF2000iS Generators Will Support Moto2 Riders

CYPRESS, Calif. - Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A.'s outdoor power equipment division announced today it will expand support of the Tech 3 Racing Team with additional generators for the Moto2™ class race activities. The new generators will build on Yamaha's existing partnership with the Tech 3 Moto GP riders throughout the motorcycle racing championship.

The Tech 3 team will race in the 2014 MotoGP World Championship with Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro in the MotoGP class, and Marcel Schrotter and Álex Marinelarena in the Moto2™ class. The Moto2 class uses bikes powered by a 600cc 4-stroke engine while the MotoGP classes allow a maximum engine capacity of 1000cc. All teams use generators to run tire warmers that increase the traction tires can get at the start of a race.

"Every rider knows that hot tires lead to safer starts and better chances for a win," Espargaro said. "Yamaha power will put our team in a better place for every race day."

MotoGP races take place on circuit tracks all over the world, including Qatar, Japan and Australia.

"We're looking forward to a great season with the support from Yamaha and its versatile generators," said Team Manager Herve Poncharal. "We hope to continue building our partnership with Yamaha and our racers."

The lightweight Yamaha EF2000iS is easy transport and puts out a maximum 16.7 amps, or 30 amps when two generators are connected with a convenient parallel function. Yamaha generators have the longest emission engine durability ratings issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.

"We're thrilled to increase our involvement with the Tech 3 Moto Racing Team this season," said Dave Park, Yamaha's power products product line manager. "With multiple races and activities, this partnership will showcase the long-lasting power and quality of Yamaha generators."
