What's an ABB Virtual Trade Show Like? - Read on!

(On June 17, thousands poured through virtual doors from their pc's to see the latest technology and services from Low Voltage Products & Systems; event earns an A+!)

ICHITA FALLS, TX, July 31, 2009 . . . Over 1,800 Industrial Automation professionals linked from their office computers through new technology, to participate in an ABB Virtual Trade Show on June 17th. Industrial automation solutions users and prospects logged in to take a close-up look at the deep breadth of products and technical information they expect to use in existing and future applications; 98% of surveyed attendees gave this virtual eVent a high grade, and said they would attend one again.

Information You Need - Right to Where You Are!

More than 4,600 engineers and professionals pre-registered for the event, and 1,800 attended to see the array of Industrial Automation solutions on virtual display from a select group of industry suppliers, according to Kelly Vincent of GlobalSpec, the eVent promoter. These numbers, ABB and eVent managers agree, demonstrate some of the most important visitor benefits this type of eVent creates: fast access to the latest product solutions, without the high cost in travel and time.

ABB Low Voltage Products & Systems presented the full array of industrial product solutions in eight virtual, product-specific booths. "We delivered a large amount of interactive content, which encouraged our booth visitors to stay for an average of 11.5 minutes, reviewing videos and interactive product displays," according to Steven Jones, events manager for ABB LVP&S. Hundreds of documents were downloaded to virtual briefcases by the 561 visitors that navigated into the ABB booth.

During the peak hours, there were as many as 55 visitors at a time in a virtual ABB booth, experiencing the products and solutions presented. During the published show hours, ABB sales engineers were available via chat, email and phone to answer detailed questions about products and applications. The element of "community-of-similar-interest" sets this eVent apart from a typical visit to a supplier's web site, according to eVent managers. You could almost hear and feel the noise and energy of the crowd; all looking for quick solutions to their most challenging design problems.

"The response to this event from this very wide assortment of attendees was both positive and immediate," noted Jones. The attendance numbers speak volumes - and the results of how users gathered information was impressive, too, points out Gary Weeks, marketing communications manager for the same business unit.

Show Leveraged Beyond the Hours It's Opened

GlobalSpec opened the exhibit hall to an International audience from June 18 to July 17. This allowed interested engineers around the world to have a fast, interactive overview of the automation and control products on display. The booth was not staffed during this period; however, another 169 visitors attended the booth over these days and downloaded a large quantity of product information.

"We already are taking mobile units - Road Shows - right to prospects' and customers' doors. Tactically, this is an extension of ABB's commitment to get ever closer to these end users," noted Dan Carroll, vice president of Commercial Marketing for the business. "We want to make it ever easier for prospects and end users to interact with our wide array and deep offer of automation solutions."

The event was open 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, and included live educational events at which visitors could talk with the 16 industry experts, who were available via chat, e-mail and phone to help solve specific and difficult design or maintenance challenges; take the time you need!
