WEG Electric Releases 2010 Corporate Report for U.S. Operations

ATLANTA, Ga. - WEG Electric Corp. (www.weg.net/us), a leading global solutions provider of industrial electrical technologies, reports that it experienced strong sales performance in 2010, which can be linked to a deep focus on customer service and satisfaction.

David A. Pipes, President of WEG Electric Corp, recently announced in a corporate report that WEG experienced very strong sales performance in 2010. "Not only did we exceed an aggressive growth forecast, but we also showed a big growth over 2008 levels prior to the economic downturn," said Pipes. "Our focus is totally on customer service and satisfaction, which has resulted in strong customer relationships. We greatly appreciate our customers and their business."

It was an exciting year for WEG in the USA. The WEG Board continued its support of the company's investment program, which enabled WEG to move into its new 250,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Duluth, Ga. "The offices are a nice environment for our team to work and have fun," Pipes stated. "The extra warehouse space has allowed us to expand our electrical panel shop business where we are now building and testing MV (medium voltage) drives. We see the package of MV motors and drives with short lead times to be a key part of our strategy going forward."

Other investments included moving to a larger warehouse in Ontario, California, opening a second warehouse in Chicago, and opening a new warehouse in Kansas City, Kansas. WEG is currently putting stock modification workshops into each of its warehouses, including a full-capability motor modification center in Duluth. According to Pipes, "These investments have allowed us to stock more products and better serve our customers."

Prompted by the EISA legislation and the anticipated ongoing focus on energy savings, WEG totally redesigned its NEMA T-frame product platform with considerable input from the U.S. Market. Since the launch of the W22 motor in 2010, the market reception has been excellent. The basic W22 is designed to meet the new EISA legislation, but the product can be designed to cover several efficiency bands higher to cater for future legislation. The new product design also improved upon noise reduction and low vibration.

In conclusion, Pipes states, "The key to our success is our employees. The WEG Board has supported us by allowing us to continue to employ and strengthen our team. WEG has a long term strategy for the U.S. market, and having a strong competent team of employees is extremely important. I believe that today we have one of the best teams in our industry in the USA."
