Merger Expands Breadth of Engineering Services to Clients by Enlarging Tec's Footprint in Ohio

EASTLAKE, Ohio – Tec Inc. Engineering Design and W.E. Monks and Co. Engineers announced today that Monks, a prominent Columbus engineering firm established in 1960, will merge with and become part of Tec, effective today, May 9, 2016.

Tec and Monks both offer similar mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering services to clients in similar vertical markets, including health care and higher education. By leveraging these commonalities, this strategic merger will expand the depth and breadth of the firm's capabilities to better support the long-term growth and success of clients in Ohio and beyond.

Announcing the merger, Tec's president, Terry Kilbourne, said, "This merger is a strong strategic fit for both firms, as it gives us a bigger, better toolkit of engineering resources to offer our clients. Monks' professionals are highly experienced, and they bring great expertise and depth to Tec's existing practices. Both firms share a common goal to exceed our clients' expectations, and this merger positions us to do that better than before."

With the merger, Tec's Columbus office will have 10 engineers providing a full range of engineering services to clients throughout Central Ohio. Monks will house Tec's Columbus office and is located on North High Street.

The merger brings the total number of engineers and design professionals at Tec to 27, creating a deeper bench strength of expertise that will benefit both of the firm's offices in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.

Russ Edwards, president of W.E. Monks, will continue as principal with Tec and become the Managing Principal of Tec's Columbus office.

Edwards said, "Our clients will continue getting the same high level of service from the same engineers they've worked with at Monks, plus they'll benefit from the additional support available through Tec. By combining our resources through this merger, we are multiplying our expertise to serve clients better as their businesses grow."

Monks will operate as Monks Engineers, LLC, a subsidiary of Tec, until the transition is complete and all operations and professionals have been integrated into Tec Inc. Engineering Design.

Together, the firms will operate as Tec Inc. Engineering & Design with 36 employees and a combined 87-year track record of proven experience. For more information, visit Tec at www.tecinc1.com.
