Vytran to Introduce New Optical Fiber Processing Products at Photonics West 2015

Morganville, New Jersey – Vytran, a leading supplier of innovative optical fiber splicing and processing solutions, will introduce a new selection of optical fiber processing products at the Photonics West 2015 exhibition and associated BiOS Expo. The Photonics West exhibition will be held February 10-12; the BiOS Expo February 7-8, 2015, at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

“Vytran is launching several new products at Photonics West, including a new option for creating automated micro and submicron tapers using our GPX glass processors, and a versatile new single splicer targeted at specialty fiber applications,” said Ed Connor, Vytran CEO. “We’ll run demos throughout the show and we encourage attendees to come to the booth, talk with our experts, and see how these technologies could improve or enable their fiber applications.”

New products that Vytran will showcase at Photonics West include:

• An “Automated MicroTaper Package” to run on the company’s GPX-3000 Series glass processors. This new option comprises software and an integrated fiber handling system to enable creation of low-loss microtapers, nanotapers and precision-dimensioned couplers, without direct fiber handling.

• The FSX-2000 splicer for specialty fiber. FSX-2000 leverages the splicing technology and splicing library of the company’s proven FFS-2000 workstation product. It’s a single process tool ideal for creating low-loss, high-strength splices on polarization-maintaining (PM) fibers, photonic crystal fiber (PCF), dissimilar glass compositions, soft glass fibers, and others.

• The FPS-300 and FPC-200 fiber preparation stations; two new systems for preparing an optical fiber for splicing or other processing. Both systems feature thermo-mechanical stripping and ultrasonic cleaning capabilities. Designed as a companion for Vytran’s FSX-2000 splicer, the FPC-200 is also a precision cleaver, handling all process steps leading to a high-strength splice. The FPS-300 is the perfect complement for the company’s LDC-400 and GPX series systems.

• A CAC-400 cleaver with multi-vendor clip capability. The CAC-400 cleaves fibers up to 600 microns in diameter reliably and consistently. Able to accommodate fiber clips from a variety of vendors, this fully automated cleaver works seamlessly with a host of splicers in manufacturing, service, and research environments.

Additionally, Vytran’s director of technology, Dr. Baishi Wang, will be presenting during the Photonics West conference. Dr. Wang will teach the course “Splicing of Specialty Fibers and Glass Processing of Fused Components for Fiber Laser and Medical Probe Applications” on February 8th at 8:30 am. He will also present an invited paper, “Latest advance on fused fiber components for power scaling of fiber lasers,” on February 10th at 1:30 pm.

Vytran’s booth at the BiOS Expo is 8716; at the Photonics West exhibition it is 716. For added convenience, attendees can set up an appointment to see the live product demonstrations by contacting sales@vytran.com.
