Universal Brings Concept to Reality at APEX

From advanced technology assembly to optimal factory efficiency, customer-focused solutions maximize competitive advantage.

Universal Instruments will feature the prototyping expertise of its Advanced Process Lab (APL) and the building blocks for an automated, integrated factory at the 2015 IPC APEX EXPO held at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA February 24 – 26. On booth 1217, the company will showcase an equipment portfolio featuring two award-winning Fuzion® Platforms, a Polaris Multi-Process automation cell, and the new Component Storage Tower.

"It's important that we're able to demonstrate our value to a wide range of manufacturers and, each year, APEX gives us that opportunity," said Universal Instruments Vice President of Marketing, Glenn Farris. "From startups which can leverage the advanced technology assembly capabilities of our APL to expedite time-tomarket, to seasoned manufacturerslooking to maximize OEE, we have the expertise and technologies to deliver the optimal solution."

"This year, there is a lot of buzz surrounding Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things facilitating the Smart Factory concept. This is something we've been engaged in for many years, working closely with industry leaders to integrate their respective competencies," added Farris. "In terms of solutions providers, our experience and diverse portfolio has us well-positioned in this arena."

Universal's portfolio will be well-represented on the company's booth at APEX. The new Component Storage Tower protects component inventory and represents an integrated piece of the Smart Factory concept, connected to factory operations through ERP or material management systems.

Two models from Universal's flagship Fuzion Platform lineup will also be on the booth: FuzionXC2-37 features twice the feeder capacity of standard platforms to increase utilization by up to 50% and maximize OEE. FuzionOF™ is the industry's fastest and most versatile high-speed automation platform, handling an extensive range of odd-form,surface mount, and semiconductor applications.

The Polaris Multi-Process Assembly Cell complements the odd-form capabilities of FuzionOF by automating more complex front- and back-end processes. Polaris delivers faster and more reliable performance than manual assembly to achieve greater efficiency, output and yield.
