UNITED GRINDING and Machine Tool Systems to Host Seminar in Canada

Companies to showcase new machines and processes in grinding technology

MIAMISBURG, Ohio – UNITED GRINDING and Machine Tool Systems Inc. will host "The Grinding Seminar" on April 8 and 9 in Woodbridge, Ontario. The free seminar will highlight new technology in cylindrical and tool grinding as well as offer 23 presentations on advancements and trends in surface and profile, cylindrical and tool grinding operations. Software demonstrations will also be available by appointment.

Attendees will learn about advancements in grinding technology by way of the company's new STUDER S11 cylindrical grinding machine and WALTER HELITRONIC MINI AUTOMATION tool grinding machine. Software demonstrations will encompass STUDERgrind, which allows for online and offline programming of STUDER machines, and ToolStudio, CAD/CAM software for HELTRONIC machines that supports the creation of a wide variety of tool types.

Now the smallest machine in the STUDER portfolio, the S11 produces precision workpieces up to 200 mm (7.9") in length, 50 mm (2") in diameter and 3 kg (6.6 lbs) in weight. Despite its compact size – requiring only 1.8 m2 (71 in2) of floor space – the machine is rigid and stable, incorporating a Granitan® S102 base that offers excellent vibration dampening and thermal stability, precision linear guideway systems and a rigid tailstock.

The WALTER HELITRONIC MINI AUTOMATION features advanced 5-axis technology for the precise, high-volume production of end mills, drills, step tools, profile blades and profile tools with diameters that range from 1 mm (0.04") to 16 mm (0.63") and maximum tool lengths of 185 mm (7.3"). Tool materials can include carbide, HSS, ceramic, cermet or CBN.

UNITED GRINDING staff and those from other top manufacturing companies will conduct the 23 seminars, covering a broad range of topics that include advancements in PCD tool manufacturing, creep feed grinding, new software solutions, filtration for grinding applications and the effective use of coolant in grinding.

"This event enables us to demonstrate and discuss grinding advancements in close proximity to our Canadian customers," said Ted Neckel, director of corporate marketing for United Grinding North America, Inc. "In today's competitive marketplace, manufacturers don't want to spend a lot of time away from their operations, and product showcase initiatives such as this allow our customers to quickly and easily learn about the new technology and then get back to work."

The event, taking place at The Country Club at 20 Lloyd Street in Woodbridge, Ontario, is part of a North American tour organized by UNITED GRINDING to demonstrate and discuss its new compact, highly productive STUDER S11 cylindrical grinder for small workpiece production and the WALTER HELITRONIC MINI AUTOMATION high-volume universal tool grinding machine.

The event program is the same each day. Further details and registration information are available at S11tour.com/CN. Registration should be completed by April 1.
