Christian Eyler, Quaker's Metalworking Sales Manager - Southern Europe, addressed a number of topics during his presentation and discussed the impact on the metalworking fluids market. His presentation included an overview of increased regulations on the metalworking market, application trends, and product innovation. Mr. Eyler noted that sustainability continues to grow in importance for the metalworking industry, specifically as it relates to reducing environmental emissions, reducing health risks for workers, and improving performance (and thereby reducing costs). He shared his perspective that future product innovation will also be centered around sustainability, and metalworking fluids manufacturers will need to further develop and improve specialty products without the use of some of the traditional critical chemicals (mineral base oils, boric acid or biocides).
