U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force Orders Defenshield DS-192 MDFP's

FORT BELVOIR, Va., Feb. 28 / -- Defenshield Inc. received an initial delivery order from the U.S. Army's Rapid Equipping Force (REF) for 50 Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions (MDFP's) as part of an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contact valued in excess of $6 million USD. While terms of the agreement were not released, the order secures fixed pricing for over 500 MDFP units through December 31, 2007. The initial phase is scheduled for delivery in March.

This award places Defenshield MDFP's at the forefront of security implementations for all four branches of the US Military throughout the United States and abroad, increasing mission capability while reducing risk to Soldiers and others. The portability and ease of deployment and storage of the units make them ideal for establishing secure entry control points (ECP's) whenever and wherever needed.

The units requested are similar to other Defenshield units deployed by the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, DoJ, DHS, the DoD and private sector infrastructure facilities, and provide the highest level of protection in a mobile, stand-alone device. Defenshield MDFP's provide a level of protection that maximizes deterrence and minimizes the chances of attack by unauthorized personnel attempting to enter a secure area. Units are currently deployed and are credited with saving lives at ECP's in various cities in Iraq, especially in the Green Zone. They will also be on exhibition at the U.S. Army's Winter Symposium, March 7-9, 2007 at the Broward Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL, booth #440.

The Defenshield product line is certified up to NIJ Level IV (30-06 armor piercing rounds), and meets the U.S. State Department Standard 01.01 for resistance to both 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO rounds. "We're pleased to be able to assist the U.S. Army in getting these life saving devices into the battlefield quickly," said Collins White, President of Defenshield Inc. "Defenshield MDFP's have been used in combat and are an effective tool to harden entry control points, allowing return fire from a place of security and safety."

Products are available through the GSA Schedule to all federal agencies and to state, local, and municipal law enforcement under the Justice Department 1122 program. The Defenshield product line is also listed on the DHS Authorized Equipment List and funding is available through the DHS Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP). The GSA Schedule also includes Defenshield's replacement glazing package for the Cadillac/Gage Peacekeeper armored vehicle in use by many law enforcement agencies.

Defenshield Inc. is a veteran-owned, New York corporation manufacturing bullet, blast and fragment resistant products for law enforcement, public security, homeland defense, and the military. The Defenshield product line offers the highest level of security, defeating armor-piercing weaponry, assault and sniper rifles, as well as handgun and shotgun rounds. Uses include hostage negotiations, personnel protection, and the immediate establishment of security checkpoints whenever and wherever a higher level of personal protection is necessary.
