TRFA Will Feature Keynote by Wind Energy Expert



Glen Ellyn, IL-The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) will welcome John R. Dunlop, Senior Technical Outreach Engineer for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), as its keynote speaker at the association's 2009 Annual Meeting, September 13-15, at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dunlop's keynote is scheduled for Monday, September 14 from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.

Thermoset resins play a significant role in the development of wind energy equipment and offer a growing marketplace for thermoset resin formulators. Three of the seventeen Technical Paper Presentations scheduled for the meeting also focus on the relationship between thermoset resins and wind energy. They are: "Formulation of a Novel Structural PrePreg System for Wind Energy Blade Construction" by Yves Didier-Carter, Gurit UK; "Opportunities for Thermoset Resin in the Wind Energy Market" by Norman Timmins and Sanjay Mazumdar, Lucintel; and "Advances in Epoxy Technology for Windmill Blade Composite Fabrication," by Rajesh Turakhia, Dow Chemical Company.

Dunlop provides wind energy technical, educational and policy support to technical audiences out of his office in Minneapolis. He also manages AWEA's wind energy standards program. He has been with AWEA since 1993, and collaborated with AWEA while serving as a renewable energy program manager for the Minnesota state energy office for fifteen years. Dunlop has degrees in physics and mechanical engineering, and is a licensed professional engineer.
