TRFA Meeting Welcomes Record Number of Attendees

Glen Ellyn, IL-When the Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) met September 11-13 at the Crowne Plaza Niagara-Fallsview in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, it welcomed a record 144 attendees to its Annual Meeting, along with 19 Table Top Showcase exhibitors and 14 Technical Paper Presentations.

Association leaders credit the growing success of the annual event to a substantial technical program. TRFA's ambitious schedule of Technical Papers, chosen by TRFA Market-Focused Committees, represents a growing body of industry-specific information and research immediately available to meeting attendees and included in the association's growing website library of technical presentations. The Annual Table Top Showcase, this year featuring 19 exhibitors, offered attendees a look at the latest developments in the thermoset resin industry.

TRFA also presented its Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award to Rongpeng Wang, a doctoral student in chemistry at the Missouri University of Science and Technology, for his paper, "Epoxidized Glycidyl Ester of Soybean Oil as Reactive Diluent for Epoxy Resin." The award was established in 2010 to encourage and recognize advances in the science & engineering of the thermoset polymer industry. Entries are submitted in the form of research papers, in the traditional scientific journal format. Eligible candidates are students who are candidates for BS, MS & PhDs at an accredited college/university in the USA and Canada whose research topics are related to Thermoset Polymer Science & Technology.

In addition to these events, participants at the 2011 event enjoyed ample networking opportunities throughout the schedule. Attendees also give high marks to the well-planned 2-day schedule which maximizes industry opportunities while minimizing time away from their respective businesses.

TRFA Elections

As part of the regular business of the association, attendees re-elected president: Valerie Walker, Cross-Link Technology, Inc.; vice-president: Jason Tuerack, Broadview Technologies, Inc.; and secretary/treasurer: Julie Mongeluzi, Dow Chemical Company, to continue their terms of office through 2012.
