TRFA Calls for Entries for Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award

Glen Ellyn, IL-The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) is pleased to announce the association's 3rd Annual Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award Competition to encourage and recognize advances in the science and engineering of the thermoset polymer industry. The competition coincides with TRFA's 10th anniversary and the award presentation will be at the TRFA 10th Annual Meeting, October 28-30 in Orlando, Florida.

The Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award Competition is open to all BS, MS and PhD students at an accredited college or university in the USA and Canada. Entries must be in the form of research papers in the traditional scientific journal format. Research topic should be related to Thermoset Polymer Science and Technology. In 2010, TRFA initiated the award for student researchers to encourage and recognize advances in the science & engineering of thermosetting polymers. The association believes the award can provide the recipient with visibility and exposure in the industry.

The recipient of the Excellence in Thermoset Polymer Research Award Competition will be invited to present the winning paper at the TRFA Annual Meeting October 30, 2012 in Orlando, Florida with complimentary registration for one person. The prize also includes two night complimentary accommodation at Loew's Royal Pacific Resort (TRFA's meeting hotel), additional travel allowance for one person up to $500, a $500 cash award and an award plaque. In addition, the winning paper will also be posted on the TRFA website.

Entry Forms (available at the TRFA website, www.trfa.org) must be submitted to TRFA Headquarters not later than April 15, 2012. Research papers must be received not later than May 31, 2012.

In addition to the research award, TRFA invites students to present posters showcasing research work in the field of composites, coatings, adhesives, molding or related thermosetting polymer technologies. Poster presentations are part of the Table Top Showcase scheduled for Monday, September 29th from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Participating students have the opportunity to network with representatives of some of the most important suppliers to the thermoset/polymer industry. The association has also established a Resume Board to post positions and resumes, as well as a professional membership category for Universities.
