TRFA Boosts Students in Tough Economy

Glen Ellyn, IL--The Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA) has announced a pair of opportunities to give students in thermoset resin studies additional exposure to job and networking opportunities within the industry: a Resume Board specifically for graduates of university programs focused on thermoset resins and the invitation to participate at the association's Tabletop Showcase, part of its 2009 Annual Meeting September 13-15, at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Specifically TRFA has invited students to submit a student poster for the Tabletop Showcase, a key event at the 2009 Annual Meeting. In addition to the $250 cash prize awarded to the best student poster display, participating students have the opportunity to meet and network with representatives of some of the most important suppliers to the thermoset/polymer industry.

TRFA has announced that universities joining the association as Professional Members are invited to post their students' resumes on a special Resume Board on the TRFA Members-Only Website. These student resumes are available to all TRFA member companies, including thermoset formulators, raw material suppliers, distributors, equipment manufacturers and consulting firms serving industries which include adhesives, coatings, civil engineering applications, electrical laminates, composites, tooling, castings and moldings. The Resume Board helps students market their considerable skills to the industry's leading companies and establishes participating universities' presence in the only association dedicated to serving the needs and interests of all thermoset formulators and having a broader focus than just epoxy.

The Resume Board is just one of a number of benefits of TRFA Professional Membership. Professional Members may also:

o Participate in the TRFA market-focused committees (Coatings, Civil Engineering and Flooring; Adhesives and Sealants; Composites and Tooling; Potting, Encapsulation and Electrical).

o Receive regulatory updates and quarterly newsletters.

o Access the members-only section on the TRFA website including technical presentations, regulatory information and Testing Standards for TRFA.

Association leaders believe both of these moves to include student and academic participation in TRFA will result in improved job prospects for participating students. Success in today's challenging job marketplace requires developing the professional network both of these opportunities foster.

At the heart of every TRFA Annual Meeting, Technical Paper Presentations are essential to meeting one of the association's key objectives, which is to be "the premier forum to interact and exchange knowledge among formulators and suppliers." Technical Papers are chosen for their technical content, the timeliness of the subject, and relevance to TRFA members and the industry. In 2009 a total of 17 Technical Paper presentations are scheduled.

TRFA's Annual Meeting also includes the meetings of its Market Focused Committees, a Regulatory Affairs Report, the 2009 Tabletop Showcase, and a General Business Session, as well as unmatched opportunities for informal networking with industry peers. Registration is now open for this annual event. Complete meeting information including fax-in or online registration, online hotel reservations, technical paper abstracts and a table top exhibitor contract is available at www.trfa.org/meeting.

TRFA is comprised of thermoset formulators and fabricators, raw material suppliers, distributors, equipment manufacturers, manufacturer sales representatives of materials or equipment, importers of raw materials or processing or other equipment, consulting firms and academic institutions serving industries which include adhesives, coatings, civil engineering applications, electrical laminates, composites, tooling, castings and moldings.
