Training Courses Will Travel

(Pawcatuck, Conn.) - Davis-Standard's most popular training course, "The Basics of Plastics Extrusion," has hit the road in recent months. The course, which is given twice a year at Davis-Standard's headquarters facility in Pawcatuck, Connecticut, and twice a year at Killion Laboratories in Texas, is now available "on request" for on-site instruction.

"There has been an increased demand for the basic extrusion workshop to be held on-site at a specific plant or location," said Simon Dominey, business manager of Davis-Standard's Killion and Specialty Systems Group. "It makes it more convenient for customers and we're able to modify course content to suit the processes employed by the organization requesting the course. In recent months, we've held these workshops in states from Idaho to Massachusetts as well as the United Kingdom and Venezuela."

The class covers the fundamentals of plastics extrusion as well as the composition and properties of various polymers and the mechanics of essential downstream processes. Topics include extruder components, temperature control, maintenance and screw design. Participants receive course materials, and class size is limited to promote student/teacher interaction.
