Thermosets Application Handbook Advances Materials Characterization

November 6, 2008 -- The new thermosets application handbook from METTLER TOLEDO provides an insight into the thermal analysis of thermosets and presents a large number of practical examples.

The main techniques used for the sample measurements are differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). In special cases, combined on-line techniques such as single differential thermal analysis (SDTA), visual monitoring, and evolved gas analysis are employed.

The thermosets application handbook is published in two separate volumes:

Volume 1

Presents an overview with a brief description of the various thermal analysis techniques used to analyze thermosetting materials. This is followed by an introduction to the chemistry and applications of thermosetting resins.

Volume 2

Concentrates on practical examples and discusses the results obtained from more than 10 different types of resin systems including epoxies, polyesters, formaldehyde resins and polyurethanes. The applications describe the different properties that can be investigated, checked and measured during the lifecycle of a thermoset.
The thermosets application handbook is an important addition to the widely accepted collected applications series which also cover areas such as thermoplastics, elastomers, pharmaceuticals, food, evolved gas analysis and basic tutorials.
