Thermo Fisher Scientific Presents Two Informatics Posters at LabAutomation 2007

Also Introduces Version 8.0 of Thermo Scientific Nautilus LIMS

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (January 24, 2007) - Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, announces it will present two posters and introduce version 8.0 of its Thermo Scientific Nautilus LIMS(TM) at LabAutomation 2007, January 28-31, in the Palm Springs Convention Center, Palm Springs, CA. Thermo Scientific purpose-built laboratory information management systems (LIMS), including Nautilus 8, will be available for demonstration at Booth 363.

Nautilus LIMS v 8.0, featuring significant development enhancements in plate-handling and workflows, and Galileo LIMS(TM) for in vitro ADMET experiments are the focus of the two poster presentations. LabAutomation's poster program highlights research from academia and industry in laboratory technologies spanning several diverse industry segments.

Thermo Fisher's poster, "LIMS Plate handling and a high throughput world," will be presented on Monday, Jan. 29. The presentation addresses plate handling needs for laboratory informatics. Automation and high throughput needs demand that workflows account for the manipulation of samples in a wide variety of plate formats and configurations. Labs are integrating everything from simple liquid handlers and cherry pickers to highly complex storage and freezer management solutions. Discussion will include LIMS functionality which integrates older ASCII and CSV files transfers to modern XML schemes and service oriented architectures.

"Addressing LIMS needs for In Vitro ADMET" is scheduled to be presented on Tuesday, Jan. 30. The poster addresses the high cost of drug discovery and development and the resulting increasing reliance on In Vitro analysis to profile ADMET and isolate compounds of therapeutic interest. ADME profiling involves a wide variety of in vitro study types, ranging from IC50, permeability/PAMPA, metabolic stability, drug-drug interaction and protein binding. The presentation will discuss informatics needs specific to in vitro testing in drug discovery and development. Topics include compound task management, instrument connectivity, integrated calculations and graphing, and high throughput and automation.
