Tecogen Sells Cogeneration System to Massachusetts-based Department of Defense Laboratory

WALTHAM, Mass. – Tecogen® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) today announced the sale and commissioning of a multiple unit cogeneration system installed at a major military research and development facility in Massachusetts. The sale of the system, completed earlier the year, was for $400,000.

The Tecogen cogeneration system will operate throughout the year, supplying the facility with electricity and thermal energy for space heating in the colder months and air-conditioning in the warmer periods. The air-conditioning is achieved by absorption chillers. This system uses "free" waste heat energy in a process to generate chilled water supplementing the facility's existing cooling system.

"The military laboratory application is a classic example of a Tri-generation system," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen.  "The system supplies all three forms of energy required by the facility and allows the equipment to produce energy savings year round. This type of system is significant to us because it has wide application in many types of commercial facilities outside our typical multi-unit hotel or residential customer."

The sale also includes a long-term maintenance contract.
