Team Loctite® Strikes Gold in 2011 Winter X Games

Mike Schultz and Daniel Bodin Medal in Snowmobiling Events

Rocky Hill, Conn. - Loctite®-sponsored snocross racer Mike Schultz and snowmobile freestylist Daniel Bodin struck gold at the 2011 Winter X Games that took place in Aspen, Colorado, January 27 through 30. Both athletes competed on high performance snowmobiles enhanced with Loctite® adhesives and sealants, bringing home a total of three gold medals.

Known as "Monster Mike" in the snocross and motocross community, Mike Schultz used his experience as a professional racer to tame one of the longest and most challenging tracks in Winter X Games history, crossing the finish line in 5:11:704 to win the gold medal in Adaptive SnoCross on January 30. Competing in a field of eight riders with different physical challenges such as limb loss and paralysis, Schulz capitalized on a quick start and clean lines to earn the medal, his second consecutive gold.

Mike Schultz was a national pro-snocross and amateur motocross rider until 2008, when a racing accident led to the above-the-knee amputation of his left leg. He has since started Biodapt, Inc., which focuses on developing the MOTO KNEE, a unique prosthetic knee design that has allowed him to return to both motocross and snocross racing. Mike uses Loctite® adhesives and sealants on his motorcycles and snowmobiles, and also swears by them to "keep all of my foot and knee bolts tight" on his prosthetic leg and MOTO KNEE.

Gold medalist and freestyle snowmobile rider Daniel Bodin competed as part of Team LaVallee, filling in for seven-time Winter X Games medalist Levi LaVallee, who was injured during December while practicing for a world record distance jump event. Bodin competed in Freestyle, Speed & Style, and Best Trick events at this year's Winter X, starting the weekend off with a bang on January 27, when he took his first gold medal in Freestyle. He finished fourth in Speed & Style, then struck gold again in Best Trick where he pulled a Double Grab Backflip never before seen on a snowmobile.

Medals for the Adaptive SnoCross event were presented by Mike Shannahan, Henkel's director of marketing for the general industry business and the Loctite® brand.
