Syrgis Appoints Chemical Industry Veteran Robert Betz to Board

CINCINNATI - (Oct. 13, 2009) - Syrgis, Inc., an international diversified group of fine and specialty chemical manufacturers, today named Robert Betz, former Cognis Corporation president, to its Board of Managers as an independent board member.

Prior to serving at Cognis, a worldwide supplier of innovative specialty chemicals and nutritional ingredients, Betz was President of Henkel Corporation's Chemicals Group. He worked for Henkel Corporation and its preceding companies beginning in 1963 and held a number of key positions including Commercial Development Director, Vice President Operations Canada, Vice President Manufacturing, Vice President USI Polyethylene Business Center and President Emery Division.
Recently, Betz started a new venture, Personal Care Ingredients LLC, which sells new natural ingredients to the personal care industry. He also serves on the Advisory Boards of the Plaza Group, a privately owned organization involved in petrochemical sales and marketing, and Bio-Botanica Inc., a privately owned manufacturer of natural herbal extracts.
Betz holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He also attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard University.
