Original Press Release:

Spring 2010 Supplier Management Council Meeting in Tucson a Success!

Based on post-event surveys from attendees, the Spring SMC meeting in Tucson, Az., was a resounding success. The meeting was the most well attended to date. I'll share the details of the meeting in a moment, but I must take this opportunity to thank a number of people. First and foremost, I would like to thank Honeywell and Raytheon, our sponsors. Both companies pulled out all the stops and offered first-rate speakers and presentations as well as opening their doors to visit Honeywell's Guidance and Electrical Systems facility and Raytheon's Missile Systems facility. I would also like to thank all of our speakers who presented both timely and topical information to the attendees. All of the presentations are on the AIA members only website available for download.

The three Return on Investment (ROI) pillars for Associate membership are Advocacy, Networking and Thought Leadership, and activities revolving around these pillars were in abundance in Tucson. The theme of the spring meeting was the "Global Aerospace Market: Opportunities and Challenges." AIA Associate members and guests were treated to a variety of topics that are critical to success in this global market, including:

AIA's Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee (EEIC) update

Quadrennial Defense Review analysis & impacts

Export Control Compliance: How to Make it a Competitive Advantage

Business Continuity Planning

How to Get the Most Out of Airshow Participation

"Global Opportunities and Challenges for Suppliers" Panel with senior industry executives from Boeing, GE, Honeywell, Parkway Products and Raytheon

Attendees were also given the rare opportunity to hear from such world class speakers including:

Adrian Paull, Vice President, Aerospace Vice President of Customer & Product Support, Honeywell;

Mr. Dennis Carroll, Vice President of International Business Development, Raytheon Missile Systems; and

Pierre A. Chao, Renaissance Strategic Advisors, who presented "The Outlook for Aerospace/Defense - Strategic Challenges and Opportunities."

Finally, Associate members had the opportunity, which only AIA can provide, to attend sessions that presented information on how to do business with OEMs/prime contractors. These sessions were conducted by senior representatives from regular member companies Honeywell, Raytheon and Rockwell Collins.

Thanks to all the attendees for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with friends, associates, peers and potential partners. We at AIA look forward to welcoming you and many more to our next meeting in Baltimore, Md., June 15-17.
