Sturtevant Richmont Releases The History of the Torque Wrench Video
Press release date: December 7, 2012
Sturtevant Richmont has released a video titled "The History of Torque Tools and Sturtevant Richmont." The video traces the development of the torque wrench from 1924 when Walter P. Chrysler developed the deflecting beam torque wrench and licensed Paul Sturtevant to manufacture and sell his invention. Both the Sturtevant and the Richmont companies were incorporated in 1940 and they were merged in 1964. Many of the Sturtevant Richmont tools have moved the torque industry forward. From the first wrenches to the first torque testers to the first calibration tools, Sturtevant Richmont has led the way. The video documents the development of torque tools from the flat beam wrench to the wireless digital torque wrenches with radio-enabled controllers that communicate with manufacturing execution systems.
