Strouse Installs Ultra Low Humidity Capabilities to Class 10,000 Cleanroom

Strouse has upgraded their cleanroom capabilities by installing the Bry-Air VFB Industrial Dehumidifier. This custom built device allows Strouse to conduct detailed monitoring and control of temperature and humidity levels within the cleanroom.

Humidity levels can pose a number of issues to a project that requires the cleanest environments. As humidity levels rise, moisture promotes the growth of bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold, and mites. Even the slightest increase in humidity levels can contaminate materials, rendering them defective for use. As customers continue to look to Strouse to handle complex projects, they can rest assured that their product is manufactured in a clean and controlled environment.

"Humidity control allows us to deal with medical materials and membranes that are negatively affected by high humidity levels," says Mark Cheatham, Director of Engineering. "High levels of humidity will dramatically shorten shelf life of reagents, impacting product shelf life." The humidity control was purchased for specific projects with Stanbio Laboratory and Porta Science and will open up many doors in the medical industry. With these projects it is required to operate below 20% relative humidity. Mark says, with the new addition "we now have the capability to achieve a low RH for medical projects."

Strouse has operated using a class 10,000 cleanroom for several years. Any project that requires a critical level of cleanliness is reserved for the cleanroom. Through the regulation of temperature and humidity levels, this allows Strouse to eliminate another variable in the production process.
