STMicroelectronics' Nomadik(TM) Application Processor Enables Samsung Mobile Phones to Deliver Best-in-Class Digital Mobile TV Experience in Korea
Samsung Selects ST's Nomadik Multimedia Application Processor to Power Several T-DMB Mobile Phones, Now Shipping
GENEVA, Dec. 19 /- STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) announced today that Samsung Electronics has selected ST's award-winning* Nomadik(TM) multimedia application processor technology for several digital TV mobile phone models for the Korean market.
These phones can receive Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) signals and run on 3G CDMA EV-DO and 3.5G HSDPA cellular networks.
T-DMB phones are enjoying significant popularity in Korea today, where consumers can enjoy several TV and radio channels together with data services such as weather forecasts or traffic and travel information; and the number of devices supporting this standard is growing exponentially. Powered by ST's Nomadik STn881x series of multimedia application processors, the mobile phones provide high-performance T-DMB mobile TV experience thanks to Nomadik's unique architecture.

ST's Nomadik mobile multimedia processors harness a multi-core distributed architecture, based on an ARM926EJ-S core to deliver superior video, audio and graphics, reduced power consumption and simplified software development for products such as smart phones, multimedia feature phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), Internet appliances and car entertainment systems.
