SpinTek Filtration's Aqualescer® Proven to be Effective in Capturing Molecules as a Stand-Alone Coalescer

Los Alamitos, Calif. – SpinTek Filtration, a leading manufacturer in the filtration industry, continues its success with their innovative Aqualescer® technology. The Aqualescer is a pre-treatment of organic in Solvent Extraction plants for hydrometallurgy applications.

This exciting new technology from SpinTek can be used in new mining filter installations, as a pre-treatment to SpinTek's CoMatrix filters, or as a stand-alone coalescer to reduce overall production costs.

The Aqualescer is an aqueous coalescer for electrolyte and raffinate streams, and it can also offer improved performance of dual-media filters.

The Aqualescer can also be used be used as a pre-treatment or stand-alone solution, and it reduces backwash frequency while minimizing costs.

The Aqualescer is a new technology that allows companies to control the rate of in-flow, so that very small molecules can be coalesced. This system can be used to augment an existing dual- media system, or it can be a standalone on other parts of the plant.

The Aqualescer can be used in more than just mining; it can be used in refineries and oil fields.

There are many benefits to the Aqualescer in the mining industry, besides its ability capture and separate tiny molecules.

The Aqualescer system was tested and shown to operate perfectly under pressures of 140kPa, and it obtained entrained organic removal of up to 95 percent for both electrolyte and raffinate streams.

The cost effective solution SpinTek developed was designed to provide improved coalescence by adding pressurized air in the inlet feed line, increasing efficiencies.

Tests conducted in South America at the Gaby Copper Mine's Solvent Extraction plant showed results for the Aqualescer;  the results showed low levels of organic in the total effluent, with the vast majority of organic removed by the Aqualescer. Efficiency removals rose to 88 percent when the organic present in the feed was greater than 20 ppm. Additionally, the system was never out of service during the five-day test run.
